Inquest into Peterborough A47 death to be opened

The inquest into the death of a 97-year-woman who was killed in a car crash on the A47 is due to be opened today (Tuesday).

Phyllis Burton of Wingfield, Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, was killed when her red Daihatsu Charade was in collision with a silver Honda Jazz on the A47 at Bretton Gate at about 11am on Tuesday, October 13.

The driver of the Honda Jazz, a woman in her 40s from Werrington, is in a critical state in Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, after her condition worsened.

The inquest into Mrs Burton’s death is set to be opened at the Peterborough Register Office this morning.

Anyone who may have seen the collision, or the cars in the moments leading up to it, is asked to contact the road policing unit on 101.
