Police have identified the woman whose dismembered torso was found in a suitcase in a Peterborough home as mum of one Ramute Butkiene
Lithuanian Ramute‘s body was discovered at the property in Mayor’s Walk, Peterborough on Friday.
Ramute was a mother-of-one and was involved in various agency work in the Peterborough area.
Family members in Peterborough and Lithuania have been informed and are being kept up to date by detectives on the investigation.
The woman’s child, a 16-year-old girl is in Lithuania with family members.
The grim discovery was made by officers after neighbours noticed a putrid smell coming from the property.
The body was found without a head, arms and legs, and police have been searching for the missing body parts throughout the week. Detectives have recovered some parts, but are continuing to search for the remaining missing limbs.
A post mortem carried out on Monday failed to establish the cause of death of the woman.
Officers are also continuing to question a 57-year-old man at Thorpe Wood Police Station.
The man was arrested on suspicion of murder on Sunday.
The murder is being treated as an isolated incident.
