Hunt for man who attacked and robbed grandmother in Peterborough car park continues

Police are still appealing for witnesses to help track down a man who carried out a brutal robbery of 74-year-old woman in Peterborough.

May Overson was left covered in blood following the brutal assault in the Conservative Club car park in Broadway, Peterborough at about 10.30pm on December 30 2015.

Mrs Overson had been getting into a taxi when the attacker struck. She was pushed to the ground, and had her bag stolen in the robbery.

She was left with minor injuries and was severely shaken by the incident.

Police released CCTV of the incident, and detectives appealed for help to trace a man, described as 5’ 7” and aged in his late 20s or early 30s in connection with the attack.

A 29-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident, and he was given bail until last Friday (February 19).

Today (Monday) a police spokesman said he had been released with no further action to take place.

The spokesman said the investigations are continuing.
