An elderly man was threatened and punched by three men in his home.

The 86-year-old victim was in bed asleep when the offenders forced their way into his home in Poplar Close, Huntingdon at around 6pm yesterday (November 4).

The men, who claimed to be police officers, told the victim they had seen someone leaving his property and asked where his valuables were located so they could check if anything had been stolen.

When the victim asked for identification, one of the men threatened him with a screwdriver and punched him

The men carried out a search of the property but it is not thought anything was taken.

The offenders are described as English, between 5ft 7 and 5ft 10 in their late teens to early twenties. One was wearing a dark coloured baseball cap and both were wearing zip up tops and dark trousers.

Detective Constable Jo Grant said: “This was a despicable crime which has left the victim particularly shaken but thankfully uninjured. We would anyone who may have seen these men in the area around 6pm to contact us.”

Anyone with information should call DC JO Grant on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
