Drink driver caught swerving in Peterborough street
A man caught driving more than two times over the drink drive limit in Peterborough has been banned for more than one and a half years.
Goncalo Serapicos (39) of Bradwell Road, Peterborough, was stopped by police in the early hours of September 2 on Chelveston Road in Peterborough.
Police had spotted him driving erratically, weaving between the lanes.
When he was stopped, he refused to give a roadside breath test - but when he was taken to Thorpe Wood he agrees to take the test, and gave a reading of 85 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.
The court heard Serapicos - who addressed the court through a Portuguese interpreter - was of previous good character.
Serapicos said he didn’t normally drink, and added ‘I recognise I have to pay for what I have done.’
District Judge Ken Sheraton banned Serapicos for 20 months, and ordered him to pay a £300 fine, costs of £85 and a £30 victim surcharge.
