‘Dangerous’ driver arrested after police pursuit in Peterborough

A man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving following a police pursuit.

At around 9pm yesterday evening (Sunday) officers from the Community Action Team located a stolen vehicle - an Audi TT - in Stanground.

The vehicle had first been picked up on the Frank Perkins Parkway through Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology before it continued on Whittlesey Road and headed towards the city.

The driver allegedly failed to stop for police and a short pursuit is said to have taken place through Stanground before the driver was arrested in Framlingham Road, Park Farm.

He was arrested on suspicion of theft of motor vehicle, fail to stop for police, driving whilst uninsured, driving whilst disqualified, dangerous driving and driving whilst over the limit for cannabis.

A police spokeswoman said: “He remains in custody for further enquiries this morning.”
