The Government has said the single most important action we can all take in fighting coronavirus is to stay at home in order to protect the NHS and save lives.

But despite that, people continue to make unnecessary journeys, including one person who even admitted travelling “just for the fun of it”.

British Transport Police tweeted yesterday: “13 people spoken to and educated at Peterborough railway station today regarding non essential travel. Please follow the government’s advice.”

Meanwhile, police in Peterborough posted a photo on Facebook showing people had left home to steal flowers before running off.

The force posted: “Ignoring the stay at home policy with another to steal flowers from the side of the road, beggars belief. Unbelievable! #ranoff #StayAtHome #Covid19 #2214 #2230.”
