Shields and helmets were the order of the day for the many uniformed officers as they grappled a series of planned exercises for several hours to prepare themselves for the real thing.

Help on the day was provided by the force’s dog unit, with officers facing bricks and bats before wrapping the exercise up at around 4pm.
