Edward Hamilton, Tree services for manager for Amey said: “We received notification of the vandalism to trees at the back of Mandeville in the Ortons yesterday morning.

“One of our arboriculture team has been and assessed, and we can confirm the damage done to these mature trees is unlikely to kill them. However, we will continue to monitor them, and in one month’s time we will re-inspect and carry out any remedial work as required.

“Tree vandalism in the city results in 10 per cent loss of all new trees planted so we urge residents to report tree damage and vandalism to us by calling 01733 747474, and the Police.”
