Arsonists set fire to Peterborough industrial unit

Arsonists caused a substantial amount of damage to an industrial units in Bretton yesterday, Sunday October 4.

Crews from Dogsthorpe, Stanground, Peterborough Volunteer Fire Brigade and Yaxley were called to a fire in Wulfric Square, Bretton, at 10.12pm last night.

A single storey building segregated into four units had smoke billowing from it when crews arrived. The unit that was on fire measured 20m by 30m and contained a large amount of sofas.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used jets, hose reels, and positive pressure ventilation fans to extinguish the fire. The fire was extinguished by 10.55pm and crews continued to dampen down while a fire investigation was undertaken.

The cause of the fire was deliberate. All crews returned to their stations by 12.10am.
