Arrests made in Newborough after people seen leaving the back of a lorry

A number of people have been arrested on suspicion of immigration offences after being seen coming out of the back of a lorry near Newborough.

Police were called to the A16 near Newborough at 11.20am today (Thursday) when about a dozen people were spotted exiting the lorry, which was parked in a lay-by.

Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire police made a number of arrests, and the detainees are being taken to Thorpe Wood and Kings Lynn police stations.

A Cambridgeshire police spokesman said it was unclear how many arrests had been made at the moment.
