The body of a man was pulled from a Spalding waterway on Sunday (25 January).

Police were called to an area of Vernatt’s Drain, near the Pinchbeck Road bridge, shortly after 2pm, where a dog walker had seen the body in the water.

Lincolnshire Police’s Underwater Search Unit recovered the body from the river shortly afterwards.

A Lincolnshire police spokesman said investigations revealed following a post mortem on Monday (26 January) there were no suspicious circumstances behind the death.

The man has not been named, but police have informed his next of kin and an inquest is set to take place

DI Suzanne Davies appealed for anyone with information to contact police.

She said: “I am appealing to any dogwalkers, or members of the public who have walked the footpath adjacent to the drain recently, and who may have information, to contact us on 101, quoting incident number 210 of 25th January.”
