Orton Waterville ward councillor Julie Howell called for action to be taken. She said: “Residents of Orton Northgate are thoroughly sick of and sickened by his behaviour. This type of riding on public roads is extremely dangerous and the noise is deafening.”

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire police said: “We have seen a small increase in inappropriate use of vehicles in recent months.

“In the past two months, we have received 174 reports of nuisance or inappropriate use of a vehicle in Peterborough, compared to 101 reports in the previous two months.

“Local officers are aware of these reports, involving motorbikes being ridden dangerously and antisocially in residential areas.

“Patrols have been stepped up by neighbourhood policing teams as we respond to the coronavirus outbreak and local officers are committed to tackling those causing a disruption whilst also ensuring residents adhere to government advice to help keep the county safe and protect the NHS.

“We ask the public to continue to report any information they have about anti-social behaviour to us, specifically in this case any descriptions and registration plates of the bikes involved and descriptions of those riding them. The more information we have, the better picture we can build and the more efficient we can be at targeting those responsible. Anyone who experiences anti-social behaviour similar to the above is urged to report this online via www.cambs.police.uk/report or by calling 101.
