A woman from Peterborough has been banned from keeping animals for four years after her cat was found collapsed and ignored eight feet from her front door.

Kirsty Denton (20) of Edgcote Close, Westwood, Peterborough, was handed the ban at Peterborough Magistrates Court on Friday.

Buddy, a two year old black and white cat, was found on the front lawn in July 2014.

Despite the best efforts of vets, Buddy was put to sleep.

Denton admitted animal welfare offences at a previous hearing, and as well as the ban, she was ordered to pay £180 in costs and victim surcharge, and was sentenced to six weeks custody, suspended for 12 months.
