A 97-year-old woman who died in a head-on collision on the A47 near Peterborough City Hospital has been named by police.

Phyllis Burton of Wingfield, Orton Goldhay, Peterborough, was killed when her red Daihatsu Charade was in collision with a silver Honda Jazz on the A47 at Bretton Gate at about 11am on Tuesday, October 13.

The driver of the Honda Jazz, a woman in her 40s from Werrington, is in a critical state in Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, after her condition worsened.

Anyone who may have seen the collision, or the cars in the moments leading up to it, is asked to contact the road policing unit on 101.
