Crash on A1 causing miles of queues between Stamford and Peterborough

A crash on the A1 near Stamford involving a lorry is causing long delays back to Peterborough this afternoon, Friday August 12.

The crash happened on the northbound carriageway at Tinwell, close to the junction with the A6121. It involved a lorry and was reported to police at 11.10am.

Police are at the scene and the lorry is expected to be cleared shortly. One lane is blocked, causing long delays from Stamford back past the A47 junction towards Water Newton.

The crash has subsequently caused heavy traffic on the A43.

Police are advising people to take an alternative route if possible while the road is closed.
