Coronavirus: Number of cases in Peterborough rises to 99 according to latest figures

The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus at Peterborough City Hospital has risen to 99 and the number of related deaths at the North West Anglia health trust has increased to 38 according to figures published today (April 10).

The latest figures released by Public Health England showed the Peterborough area had 99 confirmed cases of coronavirus as of today (Friday, April 10).

The health trust which covers Peterborough City Hospital, Stamford and Hinchingbrooke hospitals has seen a total of 38 people in its care die after contracting coronavirus as of Thursday according to figures from NHS England.

The North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust confirmed earlier this week that 21 patients had died at Peterborough City Hospital, and 13 at Hinchingbrooke Hospital, since March 24, but NHS England, did not state which hospitals had seen the four subsequent deaths.

The Public Health England figures showed that in the past 24 hours, there were 5,195 more confirmed cases with 980 deaths nationally. Those figures brought the UK total number of confirmed cases to 70,272 with 8,958 deaths.

In Cambridgeshire - not including Peterborough - the total number of confirmed cases was 320 and in neighbouring Northamptonshire it was 626.
