A Peterborough chef said school dinners were top class when he visited a primary school for lunch.
Chris Newman, head chef at the Bull Hotel in Peterborough city centre, visited Fourfields Primary School in Yaxley as part of School Dinners Week. Chris went behind the scenes to see what life in the school kitchen was like - and cooked a dessert of warm roasted plums with natural yogurt and shortbread for the youngsters. Chris said: “I was very impressed with the quality of the food, especially for the tiny budget the kitchen staff get to work with, which is even lower than what prison inmates get, which to be honest shocked me. They did a fantastic job, very well organised, especially to get through 260 pupils within a one hour window from such a small kitchen.”
