Cathedral 900: Fairy world record attempt to be made

The attempt is being organised by brain tumour charity Anna’s Hope, and will attempt to smash the record for the most people dressed as fairies in one place.

The charity was founded my Carole Hughes, following the death of her daughter, Anna, from a brain tumour in 2006, when she was aged just three years old.

Carole said: “We are very excited to be part of the 900 campaign. It is great to see the community come together like this across the city, and to have the chance to celebrate the work the charity has done.

“We wanted to do something that Anna could see from above. We had held the record for most people dressed as fairies before, but it has been broken. We hope to break the record and get at least 900 people coming along with wings, a wand and a tutu.”

The record attempt will take place on June 10.

Another Peterborough firm getting involved will be Papa Luigi’s pizza takeaway.

Pietro Scibelli, from the firm, said: “We are teaming up with schools across Peterborough to create a pizza. Children will be designing a special 900 pizza, and the winners will be invited to an event here at the cathedral.

“We are a local company, and it is important to be involved. We are every passionate about Peterborough.”
