The annual 5k event is always popular, with many women and girls running, walking and dancing there way around the course while raising thousands of pounds for Cancer Research UK.

Event manager Fiona Murray said the target is to raise £87,000, and she is asking participants to make sure they receive all of their sponsorship money.

She said: “It was the 21st anniversary for Peterborough Race for Life and we had 1,600 people take part.

“It was also the first year that we did the 10k as well as the 5k event. That was a big success, and we are hoping once all of the sponsorship money comes in to raise £87,000.

“The day was great. It was a lovely, beautiful, sunny day and everyone was out - families and dogs.

“There was lots of noise, lots of colour and lots of costumes.”

Sunday’s race winner was Katherine Amps, while mother and daughter Helen and Hattie Smith took second and third.
