Peterborough shoppers got more than they bargained for when they popped in to the new Central England Co-operative store in Hempsted on Friday and walked out with prizes including a 50 inch TV.
The new food store in Columbus Road, Hempsted, opened its doors on Friday, July 8 with The Mayor of Peterborough, Councillor David Sanders supporting the celebration.
The opening of the new food store has created 24 new jobs.
Store Manager, Stuart Mott, said: “We are delighted to be able to showcase our new food store to our members and customers – it looks fantastic.
“We’ve had a great launch day with lots of positive comments made by customers. As part of our launch celebrations, 50 lucky shoppers received a golden ticket product giveaway. We provided in store bakery tastings, talked to customers about membership and how we can support the local community with our Community Dividend Fund.
“We are all looking forward to becoming a valued part of the local community and getting to know our customers and neighbours, so please come and visit the store and pick up some fabulous products this summer.”
Samantha Hewitt, one of the lucky customers who received a product giveaway, said: “I only popped in for some milk and I won a 50” TV – how fantastic! I have just moved to Hempsted and the TV is a great welcome gift. Thank you Hempsted Co-op.”
