Jobs are being created in Peterborough with the opening of a new convenience store.
Twelve full-time and part-time staff will be recruited for the Co-op store that will open in Winchester Place, Thorpe Road, next month.
Manager Tracey Wiles said the new store, which will be close to the Care Centre, will open on April 27.
There will be an official opening at 10am.
She said: “We are really looking forward to opening.”
The store, which is part of the Co-op Group, will also provide support for the Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice in Peterborough.
Mrs Wiles said: “We are looking to support Thorpe Hall through our new membership launch which allows customers who spend money with us to receive discount from products and also the Co-op will pay one per cent to local causes.”
Sue Ryder is also the chosen local charity of the Co-op stores in Oundle Road and Werrington.
The stores recently held an afternoon tea at Thorpe hall for friends and families to enjoy some tea, coffee and goodies.
News of the jobs boost comes after figures from the Office for National Statistics reveal the number of people claiming Jobseeker’s Allowance in Peterborough rose last month to 1,645 people - up 160 people on the previous month.
