Nearly 400 people turned out to make their views known about new £30 million plans to revamp Peterborough’s Queensgate shopping centre.
Images and details of the proposals were put on show for two days by the centre’s owners Invesco and its managers Lend Lease.
Guy Thomas, head of retail leasing at Lend Lease, said: “More than 370 people visited the exhibition with the feedback for the proposals to add new stores, a restaurant hub and cinema receiving overwhelmingly positive support.
“To have the number of people attending the exhibition was superb.
“The very high level of interest in the plans was also matched by exceptionally strong support and a lot of excitement.
“The feedback from visitors also highlighted the vital contribution it will make to the wider city centre, from the jobs that will be created to the boost to the city’s evening economy.
He added: “We are very pleased with the outcome of the exhibition, which has reiterated the need and demand for an extension to Queensgate’s offer in the heart of the city centre.”
The £30 million investment to create the 77,000 sq ft extension has been lined up for the 33-year-old shopping centre and will feature a multi-screen digital cinema and a hub of seven restaurants and a number of new stores.
