Representatives from scores of businesses in part of southern Italy are staging a trade exhibition in Peterborough.

Organisers say about 40 firms and organisations will attend the event to create new ties between Peterborough and the region of Puglia, which largely borders the Adriatic Sea.

Chain and individual hotels, tour operators and travel agents, heritage sites, vineyards, speciality holidays and excursion providers have already been lined up for the exhibition.

The event will take place at The Fleet, Fleet Way, High Street, Fletton, on Wednesday and Thursday.

The event will be open for trade only on Wednesday between 11am and 6pm.

It will be open to trade and public the following day between 9am and noon.

Promoter Daniele Borrelli said: “For tour operators or travel agents who already do business in the Puglia region, and for those looking to expand into Puglia, this is a unique opportunity for companies to meet old and new tourism providers and establish relationships.”

He said that in addition to the exhibitions in the main hall, there will be a break out room where exhibitors will be giving presentations, showing slides and giving talks on their particular subject.

Rooms will be available for one to one meetings and discussions as required.
