LOCAL agricultural merchant Dalmark Group has announced a large-scale investment in green energy.
The business, based in Eye, near Peterborough, has seen it as important for some time to both secure its energy supply for the years ahead, and to play its part in the city’s Environment Capital agenda.
It is fitting that the recent installation of the solar PV panels was completed on the day the city council hosted its Environment Capital conference.
The business has had a 49.8kWp array installed, representing an investment of about £100,000.
The array is expected to produce approximately 42,000kWh of electricity per year and represent annual carbon savings of about 24,000kg.
Company director Matthew Dalton said: “In order to be competitive, it’s important that we keep our variable costs to a minimum, and the panels will play a key part in that.
“However, in addition, I’m passionate about the city’s environment agenda, and so am delighted we are playing our part as a local business.”
Dalmark Group, a £70 million turnover business, comprises two strong independent businesses – Dalton Seeds and Dalmark Grain, established in 1952 and 1976 respectively.
