Inspirational campaigner Claire Lomas is to be the celebrity guest speaker at this year’s Peterborough Telegraph Business Awards ceremony.
Claire, from Melton Mowbray, captured the nation’s heart when she completed the 32nd Virgin London Marathon in 2012 in 17 days using the ReWalk robotic suit.
A former equestrian rider, Claire was left paralysed after falling from her horse in 2007.
Since then she has raised thousands of pounds for Spinal Research and was awarded the MBE last year.
She will speak at the PT Business Awards on November 23 ahead of the presentations of awards to the best of Peterborough business.
Chris Collier, chair of the awards judges, said: “To have someone like Claire speaking after her world was torn apart as a result of a riding accident is fantastic for the Awards.
“Claire has achieved so much since the accident, including finishing The London Marathon in 17 days in a Robotic Suit, and I’m sure she will be an inspiration for all the attendees.”
