An agro-chemical manufacturer in Peterborough has just completed a £400,000 investment which is paving the way for new jobs.
Safapac Ltd has installed a new hi-tech suspension plant at its premises in Orton Southgate.
It means the company, which sells to Europe, USA, and China, will be able to increase the volumes of its herbicides suspension products from just over four million litres a year to seven million litres.
The project is a result of major investment by Safapac with a £100,000 grant from Greater Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Enterprise Partnership. Martin Steele, chairman, said: “The new plant will enable us to improve the volume production of herbicides suspension products, which will be used by local farmers and others throughout Europe.”
“The grant has been a fantastic opportunity for Safapac, representing a 25 per cent contribution to the investment in our new plant and equipment, which is enabling further business growth.
The completion of the new suspensions plant has also meant career opportunities with Safapac recruiting for a number of positions. These include production line leaders, manufacturing operatives and warehouse assistants.

Caroline Rees, HR manager at Safapac, said: “Our new suspensions plant not only brings business growth for Safapac, it also brings growth to the size of our team.
“We have many career opportunities as a result of the expansion and we are looking forward to finding ambitious people who want to work with us, especially as we’re embarking on exciting times for both the company and employees.”
The investment has created 10 extra jobs bringing the number of staff to 53 but it is still hiring for highly skilled positions such as experienced line leaders and laboratory chemists.
