Scores of boys turned out for the first singing day in Peterborough dedicated to young males.
The youngsters aged seven years and above took part in the event at the Broadway Theatre, which was overseen by award winning choral conductor Will Prideaux.
He said: “Recent statistics show that fewer boys are willing to sing and that even those who start keen tend to stop when they reach puberty, which is ironic given that boys’ voices often reach their peak between the ages of 11 and 14.
“But boys’ voices don’t break, they change and it is crucial they understand what is happening to them.”
Several Peterborough Youth Choir boys have already successfully auditioned for the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain and others.
Now the Peterborough Youth Choir lads will compete for the first time as Peterborough Boys’ Choir at the prestigious Cornwall Male Voice Choral Festival in May.
