Top former England cricketers will take part in a spectacular sports fun day in Stamford.

BGL Sport Bash 2016, now in its fifth year, returns to Stamford School playing fields on 29 July.

The event is organised by former England cricketer and Stamford Endowed School’s Head of Cricket, Dean Headley. He said: “BGL Sport Bash is a fantastic day out for all the family, last year we raised close to £40,000 for a host of charitable causes.”

Gates open at 11:30am, with visitors encouraged to try their hand at a host of sport related activities Rugby Union powerhouses, Leicester Tigers, will also be attending BGL Sport Bash, bringing with them their roadshow vehicle, The Maul, the tackle bag and team mascot Welford.

The main event will be, a 20/20 cricket showpiece with a Dean Headley X1 competing against a Local Legends X1. The Dean Headley X1 already boast a wealth of talent, including former international greats Simon Jones, Phil DeFreitas and Geraint Jones.

BGL chief executive Matthew Donaldson said: “As a locally-based company, many of our people live in Stamford and the surrounding area, and we’re only too pleased to be involved with this fantastic community event that supports the likes of the Matt Hampson Foundation, Seb Goold Trust, and the George Robinson Trust. Fingers crossed for the weather.’’

Tickets for BGL Sport Bash 2016 are now available at www.bglsportbash.co.uk, priced £10 for adults and £7.50 for children over 5, with free entry for children aged 5 and under.
