£250,000 National Lottery Scratchcard win for father of two

A man from Huntingdon is celebrating after he revealed a £250,000 top prize on a Super 7s Scratchcard from National Lottery GameStore

Jeremiah Johnson (39) had popped into his local supermarket on the way home from work when he bought the winning Scratchcard. Once home, and with his wife Joy (38) making supper, the father of two sat down in front of the TV and decided to play.

He said: “I wasn’t really paying attention to the TV or the game until I saw that I had revealed four matching symbols and the caption below was £250,000. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing, uttered a couple of choice words and then triple and quadruple checked it again.”

Not daring to believe he really had won £250,000 Jeremiah ran into the kitchen asking Joy to check the Scratchcard for him.

He said: “I enjoy playing the odd National Lottery Scratchcard and have had some nice wins along the way but nothing of this size. I genuinely never played believing I would have a big win so when that £250,000 winning symbol was glaring back at me I just couldn’t fathom it. I asked Joy to look but she said she had no idea how to play!”

Jeremiah then ran back to the shop so they could check if there was a win on the Super 7s Scratchcard. When he was told he had to contact Camelot directly, Jeremiah started to believe it really was a big win and quickly called them to confirm.

With Jeremiah’s £250,000 win safely in his bank account the US government employee, originally from North Carolina, can start to make plans for the future.

He said: “We will use some of the win to clear some loans, a large portion will be put into a college fund for our two children, another portion for a few more bits of furniture and the rest will be a nice little nest egg for the future.

“We’ve been based at RAF Molesworth for three years but will be moving to Germany at the end of the summer for my next posting. We are really sad to leave the UK, we love it here and will take with us some amazing memories, not least this win – the perfect souvenir of our time here!”

Jeremiah’s winning Super 7s Scratchcard, from National Lottery GameStore, was bought at Tesco Express on Wertheim Way in Huntingdon. The Super 7s Scratchcard offers a 1 in 3.74 overall chance of winning a prize. The card costs £3 and prizes range from £3 up to the top prize of £250,000.

GameStore is the new home of Scratchcards and online Instant Win Games from The National Lottery, offering players many different and exciting ways to play and win life changing prizes.
