Amazon cash donation lifts science lesson at Peterborough academy
Science lessons at a Peterborough academy have been given a new dimension with a donation from internet retailer Amazon.
Nene Park Academy received £1,000 from Amazon’s fulfilment centre at Kingston Park, Fletton, to buy new science equipment.
The donation coincided with British Science Week and aims to help children reach their potential in the digital world. Members of the Amazon team took part in a science class with students from Year 7.
Amazon’s Peterborough site leader Lee Shepherd said: “Science, technology, engineering and maths are some of the core skills used in a multitude of careers today, including those at Amazon. We’re passionate about encouraging young people to consider a future career in these disciplines.”
Academy principal Steve Howard said: “We’re always keen to make learning exciting for our students so we’re grateful to Amazon for helping us do it during British Science Week.”
