The Hindu festival of Diwali was celebrated yesterday (Saturday, October 31) in Peterborough’s Cathedral Square.
The city centre was transformed with activities to reflect Diwali, the festival of light, including prayer, dance, music and song.
There was Indian food for shoppers to sample and they were also encouraged to learn about the origins of the festival.
Peterborough’s Indian, Nepali and Sri Lankan communities have come together in celebration in Cathedral Square for the last two years.
The leader of Peterborough City Council John Holdich switched on the Diwali lights at 5.30pm.
