Academy raises £700 to help Thorpe Hall Hospice

Pupils and staff from Thomas Deacon Academy have raised a fantastic £700 for Sue Ryder's, Thorpe Hall Hospice in Longthorpe, following weeks of fundraising activities at the school.

The academy operates a charitable giving scheme in which each academy house chooses a charity to support for the academic year.

This year Sandown House made the choice to support Sue Ryder, Thorpe Hall and after weeks of fundraising activities, including sponsored runs, cake sales and sweet stands Sandown House has raised in excess of £700.

After informing the recipients of the donation to Thorpe Hall, Joanne Marriott, senior hospice fundraiser invited the pupils and staff to visit the hospice to learn more about the cause they were supporting.
