The A47 westbound has reopened following a fatal two vehicle collision near Peterborough City Hospital.

The road was shut in both directions for much of the day and a large emergency presence was at the scene of the crash which occurred after one vehicle was travelling in the wrong direction. More details on those involved here.

The collision took place at around 11am this morning (Tuesday, October 13).

Cambridgeshire police, two ambulance crews from the East of England Ambulance Service and Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service all attended the collision, while an air ambulance was also sent by the East Anglian Air Ambulance.

The road was shut between junctions 15 (Thorpe Wood) and 17 (Gresley/Bretton Way) with queues back to junction 19 (Dogsthorpe).
