17 suspected illegal immigrants in lorry on A14

Police officers in Cambridgeshire have detained 17 suspected immigrants hidden in the back of a lorry travelling north on the A14.

The group are believed to have entered the country illegally.

A spokeswoman for Cambridgeshire Constabulary confirmed that officers received reports at 2.45pm from members of the public, claiming that a number of migrants could be seen riding in the back of the vehicle.

The lorry was forced to pull over at the Alconbury services, where 14 adults and three children were found hiding in the lorry’s storage container. They have been taken to Thorpe Wood police station in Peterborough to be

questioned.

The location of the vehicle’s driver is unknown.
