In 2001, Oliver Thain and Richard Bradley transformed the place from a rundown old boozer into a destination pub/restaurant - and they haven’t looked back.

It has won Cambridgeshire Dining Pub of the Year many times previously and was also National Pub of the Year in 2013

The Cock sits aside the Great Ouse river in the quaint village of Hemingford Grey.

The pub serves local real ales and village cider in comfortable, humble surroundings. Meanwhile the restaurant serves British and European food in a homely setting.

The homemade sausages are a great hit and the classic confit duck parcel has a cult following.

Oliver Thain, founder and Managing Director, said:We’re utterly thrilled to win this award. We have owned the pub for nearly 20 years and to receive this recognition for our consistency, dedication and high standards is a huge compliment from the biggest pub guide in the UK. We have worked really hard to keep a local pub in the community with fine beer alongside the restaurant.

“Both have separate entrances and space so the regular pub goer doesn’t feel alienated by the food element and the restaurant goer is able to enjoy a different occasion.

“Our team here deserve the adulation and of course we thank our wonderfully loyal customers who have supported us for all of these years. Celebrations have started!”
