Voyager Academy, March 5

Peterborough Scale Model Club will host 45 clubs and 20 traders. Supported by Stamford-based Airfix Model World and Fly Past magazines the show will feature examples of highly detailed scale models of aircraft, cars, military vehicles, figures, ships and trains.

Clubs will show off their handiwork and compete for highly-prized trophies. The profits from the event, which the organisers hope will hit four figures, will go to Comic Relief.

Needle Hitching

Dating back over 7,000 years, needle hitching is a technique of tying half hitch knots, which can be used to make fabric items such as socks, hats, bowls and mats. Spend the morning making a small pot from the ancient fibre flax cord, using a needle made from antler. Take away your antler needle to put your skills into use at home!

Two traditional and important companies in the city are coming together to produce a concert at the Voyager Academy. Wagner’s Mastersingers, Bizet’s Carmen and Verdi’s Aida, Rigoletto, Il Travatore and Le Traviata, are key to the afternoon.

HMS Pinafore

Queen Victoria Hall, Oundle, until March 4

There is still time to see Oundle Gilbert and Sullivan Players’ production of HMS Pinafore, with performances tonight, Friday and Saturday (7.30pm). 
This salty tale is set on the Royal Navy ship HMS Pinafore, commanded by Captain Corcoran who is adored by his trusty crew.
