Paramedic Paparazzo: A couple of photos from my archive this week taken at Peterborough Railway Station.
I am sure regular users of the station will be able to spot a few changes since the main photo was taken in about 1980.
The second photo is from a little later, I think, and I think the lady is holding on to her hat to stop it blowing away.
Thanks meanwhile to Roger Howland who identified the two gents in my feature on January 15.
“The two gentlemen in the photograph, both sadly now deceased, were both racing pigeon fanciers and members of the club of which I was secretary.
“They are Joe Howson, of Glenton Street, and Bernard Hitchborn, initially of Stanground but more latterly of Queens Road in Fletton.
“Neither were as far as I know postmen but the cycle was without doubt an ex-postman’s cycle and belonged to Joe.
“He used this means, quite common in the early days, to transport his pigeon basket to the club on race marking nights.”
Recognise anyone or anything?
