Music fest on the town meadows

The opening night, July 15, will have a jazz ‘n’ blues feel. Saturday afternoon will be a showcase for new singers and songwriters, and Saturday evening will particularly appeal to fans of folk music with The Tin Pigeons booked to play.

Sunday will feature a more classical style.

Other acts already booked on the weekend’s bill include folk act Frumenti and classical guitarist Steve Bean.

Each day there will be plenty to do including children’s entertainment, a craft market, and stalls offering a variety of food and drink including craft beer and street food.

The festival is being organised by the Market Square Group, and director Paul Kennedy said: “We are aiming to cater for a range of musical tastes, from folk to funk, from country to classical, from rock to rhythm and blues and a lot more in between.

“As with all our events the aim is to provide a platform for acts local to the area and also to give up- and-coming artists the opportunity to perform on an outdoor festival stage.

“A limited number of early bird tickets are on sale now and we will be revealing further acts over the coming weeks.”

Early bird weekend tickets are now on sale until the end of May from www.clickit-tickets.co.uk. These are priced at £8 for a full three day weekend ticket; £3 for Friday; £3.50 for Saturday and £3 for Sunday.

Tickets can also be bought in person at the Stamford Arts Centre in St Mary’s Street, Stamford.

The festival will run from 5pm to 9.30pm on the Friday, 11am to 9.30pm on the Saturday and 11am to 8pm on the Sunday.

All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Children under 12 get in free.
