Education has undergone many changes since today’s pictures were taken – not least the fact that outside the private sector there are almost no single sex schools.
The first picture hows three head teachers of Peterborough County Grammar School for Girls taken at its golden jubilee in 1954. Can anybody name them?
The school became Peterborough County Girls School, before closing in 1982. The nativity scene is also of County Girls pupils.
The picture of pupils displaying shields is Cromwell Girls School but when was it taken?
The next picture, according to the caption on the back of the photo, shows pupils from Lincoln Road Girls School enjoying a holiday in the Lake District. I think that name is probably wrong and it should be the County Girls School.
The only information with the next is “Speech Day 1947’’.
Do you know which school this was?
The final picture is captioned Queens Girl School but I have no other information.
