High Stakes - it's the '˜spooken' word from Pete cox

Pete is widely known in the city as he has previously been Poet Laureate of Peterborough (2003) and Poet-in-Residence of the church of St. John the Baptist (2012 – 2013).

Fear and spookiness is not an unknown subject for Pete, who is currently halfway through a two-year residency with The Dracula Society and was Poet-in-Residence of the Broadway Cemetery from 2005 to 2008.

This current residency with Metal and The Dracula Society is the starting point for his “spooken” word show High Stakes, that expands to look at what might scare us all. From our own frailty and the prospect of failing to repay the mortgage to back-street literary societies who celebrate unfashionable genres and near-forgotten authors you can follow Pete’s journey into the darkest recesses of human existence, with the prospect of spot prizes for the most dazzling shoes!

The date of this new performance ties in with the anniversary of the London release of Dracula by Bram Stoker in 1897.

The show has been developed with producer Mark Grist, director Ross Sutherland and assistance from Arts Council England, arts organisation Metal and John Clare Cottage.
