Grab a hot tub date with controversial artist Scottee in Thorpe Meadows

As part of Park Tales weekend, Scottee - often described as activist, broadcaster, writer and attention seeker - is offering groups of friends the chance to chill out with each other in a crop circle in Thorpe Meadows !

The work titled Any Excuse will see 10 groups (of four) spend dawn or dusk in a wood fired hot tub with a bottle of bubbles for an experience not to be forgotten.

Scottee is one of five artists commissioned by Peterborough Presents for Park Tales; a festival weekend of interactive and magical arts installations and performances on August 19 and 20.

It is supported by Peterborough’s leisure and arts provider Vivacity, city arts group Metal and Nene Park Trust, which is responsible for Thorpe Meadows.

It is being funded by Arts Council England and Peterborough City Council.

Scottee, an artist from London, his work is often about outsiderness; race, sexuality, class, age and gender.

His work has been performed for audiences across the globe. In London his projects have been presented at some of the world’s leading spaces; Barbican, Royal Opera House,Tate Britain, Roundhouse (wehere he is an associate artist), ICA and Southbank Centre but he prefers to make work in dodgy gay bars, public toilets, bedrooms, disused tanning shops and forgotten community centres.

In 2010 Scottee won the title of Time Out Performer of the Year. The Worst of Scottee won Total Theatre Award for Innovation in 2013 and in 2015 Scottee was included on Independent’s Rainbow List as one of Britain’s most influential LGBTQI+ people.
