Take a look inside Peterborough’s new Coyotes Bar and Grill

Peterborough city centre’s newest food and drink venue finally opens to the waiting public this weekend, despite the government’s 10pm closure order issued this week.

The American-themed Coyotes Bar and Grill fills the void left by Halo, on the corner of Northminster and New Road, which closed a couple of years ago. The official opening is on Saturday - with live music in the evening from top city band Children of the Revolution. The team behind the venture are promising something new and missing from the Peterborough scene - with American inspired graffiti certainly giving it a unique look. There will be music of course, food and much more with theme nights involving comedy, drag, line dancing and tribute band providing the entertainment. Nights at Peterborough’s long-lost Chicago Rock venue provided inspiration for John Walker, a man with 40 years in the entertainment business (he runs Good Time Jam) and his business partner Neil Owen, who is also involved in event management. “I am born and bred in Peterborough and grew up going to places where you could sit down and eat and enjoy the music. And I think about Chicago Rock and what that brought to the city much later. Since it closed there is nowhere to go like that. That’s where the American theme and the name came from. The American graffiti (by Peterborough-based Street Art Hire) gives it a great look - it makes the place really stand out. The idea is to make the most of the place from 8am , serving coffee and breakfast, through lunch and dinner - serving steaks, burgers and some of our chef’s speciality dishes to 10pm - with late night music until 3am on Fridays and Saturday (once government restrictions are lifted). We want to make the venue work all of the day and for it to be somewhere for the whole family to come to. As well as the food and drink there will be live music and tribute acts, line dancing, open mic nights, comedy and drag shows.”
