Regulars at The Dragon in Werrington are helping cheer up landlady Mandy Parnell - and passersby - by sending her colourful rainbow paintings and drawings.

More than 30 rainbows - which have become a symbol of support for frontline workers during the coronavirus pandemic - now fill the windows at the pub on Hodgson Avenue, delivered by parents and children out on their daily walks.

Mandy, who appealed for the pictures on social media after the first one arrived, said: “ The pictures in the Dragon window look beautiful, and they are making so many people smile as they walk passed.

“I’ve had so many messages from people thanking me, saying it’s cheering them up as they go on their daily walk. And the pictures are so special as the children and adults have put so much hard work into them.”
