Posters went up in the windows of the events and entertainment venue on Northminster last night - with the owners blaming the ongoing coronavirus restrictions imposed by the government.
They say there was no other choice but to close after Covid restrictions and 10pm curfew had damaged the footfall to the venue, also home to Harry’s Bar and Radius.

The notices say: “Unfortunately due to increased Government restrictions we have no other choice than to close The Solstice until further notice.

“We want to thank you for your support over the last 23 years and we hopefully look forward to seeing you all again soon.”

As reported earlier this year, MPB Structures, which owns The Solstice, is proposing to start works  in late 2021 on a block of  77 student rooms  and 56 self-contained, private apartments on the site.

And only last week they applied to the city council to allow greater use of its outdoor space the XL Arena.
