For £8.95, the pub located at the Falcon on London Street, will provide you with your own socially distanced table, wi-fi, unlimited tea and coffee, a bacon butty for breakfast and a sandwich and a mug of soup for lunch.

The offer runs from Monday to Friday between 9am and 3pm and was the idea of owner Colin Wilson who has been looking at different ways to help his business through the pandemic.

“I know that so many people are working from home right now and must be fed up with looking at the same four walls or are in need of less distractions.

“Hopefully, an office in a pub can provide them with a different aspect of their working day and stop them getting fed up.

“It’s good for us and it’s good for them. We want to keep people coming through the door because we’ve lost around half our tables, due to social distancing, and we don’t want to have to cut back on our staff.

“The hospitality industry is an easy scapegoat at the moment but us, like many places, are following the guidance to the letter and have implemented table service and sanitising stations etc.

“I just came up with the idea late on Sunday night and have been astonished with the reaction.

“Perhaps even we can even get some networking going from this.

“I’m always trying to come up with mad ideas though and we’re also having a Mad Hatters Tea Party for kids on Saturday, October 17, to help parents who are struggling with ideas for birthday parties.”
