Generous staff at the financial services company used their spare time to collect thoughtful items, including mindfulness puzzle books, chocolate, tea bags, handmade soap, candles and face masks to help expectant mums across the UK enrolled in the NSPCC’s Pregnancy In Mind (PIM) programme.

Caroline Raines, Group Communications Director at BGL Group, said: “We know lockdown has been tough on everyone and for mothers about to bring a newborn baby into the world, this time may have been particularly challenging.

“These boxes were created to show our support. We’re proud of our colleagues for helping to support this worthy cause and hope that others will be inspired to support this vital lifeline for both parents and their children.”

Pregnancy in Mind is a preventative mental-health service designed to support parents who are at risk of, or experiencing, mild to moderate anxiety and depression during pregnancy.

Dani Hindle, NSPCC Fundraising Manager for Cambridgeshire, said: “We’re blown away with the support BGL has given our service centres across the UK, these pamper packages will ensure that every mum enrolled on PIM will receive a box for the next six months.

“The shockwaves of the coronavirus pandemic are being felt in every community of the UK and Channel Islands and are still prevalent today. We talk to families every day – we hear the pressures they’re under, how they continue to face the fallout, and the strain it’s putting on their lives. When they feel hopeless and need to talk about their worries, we’re here.

“We continue to still be here for parents and children, but all of this is only possible with support from the public and companies like BGL. And whilst many people are looking forward to a return to the ordinary, we know that extraordinary steps need to be taken for our children. We all need to act now. We know that with the right help at the right time, these experiences don’t have to shape their lives. Now is that time.”

Boxes were donated to service centres in Bradford, Tidworth, Jersey, Swindon and York
