Enjoy cathedral's tranquil green spaces this weekend

Anyone who enjoys the tranquillity of the green spaces around Peterborough Cathedral on a summer afternoon can take advantage of a guided Precincts Tour on Saturday at 12noon.

The tour not only explores the history of the buildings and open spaces surrounding the cathedral but also takes visitors into the Victorian Deanery Garden, which is not normally open to the public. Within the garden is Tout Hill, a grassy mound which is all that remains of a motte-and-bailey castle built by a Norman abbot in the 11th century to protect the cathedral against Saxon and Viking attacks.

Tickets are £8 per adult (£6 concessions), accompanied children free of charge. A special ticket for those who would like to combine the Precincts Tour with the 2pm Cathedral Tour is available at £13 (£10 concessions).
