Chefs give Hope to youngsters

Restaurateur Adebole Adeshina teamed up with some leading chefs in the area to host a charity night at his village restaurant.

The executive chef at The Chubby Castor, on Peterborough Road, put on the fundraising dinner in aid of Stamford-based Anna’s Hope, after being moved by the work the charity does with children affected by brain tumours.

Ade, the executive chef at the Michelin Guide-recommended fine dining restaurant, enlisted the help of his head chef George West, MasterChef quarter-finalist Simon Spooner and Chris Huggett, the chef behind the Ora Cultro pop-up restaurant in Oundle, to put on a six-course dinner last Thursday.

A silent auction raised £1,400 for the charity.

Carole Hughes, founder of Anna’s Hope with husband Rob, was full of praise for the chefs and the “great evening of food and dink”.

She said: “I got invited along to meet Ade, who had heard about our charity.

“We spoke and he was in awe of the work that we do, and said he would like to do something for us. From there he set about putting together a wonderful evening which raised a fantastic amount of money for our charity - money which will make a real difference for children all across the East of England.

“Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killers of children and for survivors their lives can be severely compromised - it affects the whole family.

“Anna’s Hope funds neuro rehabilitation for those children right across the East of England, and we make sure every child that needs it benefits from every penny we raise, so I would like to thank everyone who helped at the restaurant last week.”

Anna’s Hope will be hosting the 5k fun run at this Sunday’s Great Eastern Run and you will find Carole and the team on the Embankment before and after the race.
