Photos from Peterborough photographers’ new books takes readers inside Peterborough’s old hospitals

Pictures from Peterborough photographer Chris Porsz’s new book, Just Be Kind, give a revealing look inside Peterborough’s former hospitals.

THe photos are just some of those featured in his new book which explores how the NHS has changed in the city over the last 40 years. They have been collated by Chris, also known as Paramedic Paparazzo, who has been a regular contributor to the Peterborough Telegraph for many years.

He became a hospital porter in 1974 and a paramedic in 1988 and has spent most of his days off in that time accompanying colleagues to capture patients’ journeys from the 999 call to the hospital.

The book includes images from the last 40 years and takes readers on a journey through how NHS provision and the job of NHS staff has changed throughout the last four decades.

Below are a few of those photos which show Peterborough District Hospital (PDH) in 2010, just before it was demolished, aswell the demolition process for both PDH and Edith Cavell Hospital.

Just Be Kind is available for £20 at www.chrisporsz.com, with part of the proceeds going towards Breast Cancer Research.
